Pilates

Pilates is a physical fitness system designed by Joseph Pilates, a German, during the first World War. It's core principle is the merging of the mind and body, so that with a disciplined mind, the body moves with more grace, balance and flexibility. Studying both Eastern and Western principles in health and well-being, Pilates formed his classical system to improve the rehabilitation program for the many returning veterans of the war.

He created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement. With a more disciplined mind, one has more control and awareness of their breathing, and in turn, more grace and economy in their bodily movements.

At present, there are more than 12 million people around the world who practice Pilates.

Not only is Pilates incredibly beneficial to one's physical health like most fitness systems, but it also develops ones awareness, concentration, mental discipline and sense of serenity, akin to meditation.

In today's modern society wherein we're bombarded with so much stimuli every waking moment, not to mention the toxins we ingest and our increasing stress levels, Pilates is an all-round solution to improving our immune system, losing our extra kilos, releasing toxins in our body and improving our sense of mental well-being.
